Fracture patterns in midshaft clavicle fractures

چکیده
Current classifications of midshaft clavicle fractures are based on radiography. The aim the study was to evaluate fracture pattern using 3-dimensional computed tomography (3D CT). A retrospective analysis performed CT scans 65 acute fractures. Using quantitative 3D reconstruction techniques, virtually reduced. Based these reconstructions, a group-based heat map and small fragment map, location most common line were determined. Also, direction amount displacement evaluated. Three patterns could be distinguished. primary in type 1 is going from posteromedial anterolateral located between 50% 68% clavicle’s length. Clavicle fractures remain one of the more common fractures encountered in the orthopaedic office. Nonoperative management remains the standard of care in most cases. However, studies have shown a higher nonunion rate and decreased patient satisfaction in fractures with increased shortening. The malunion resulting from nonoperative management has been shown to be problematic in patients with sig...
متن کاملMalunion after midshaft clavicle fractures in adults
This is an overview of the current literature on malunion after midshaft clavicle fracture. Anatomy, trauma mechanism, classification, incidence, symptoms, prevention, and treatment options are all discussed. The conclusion is that clavicle malunion is a distinct clinical entity that can be treated successfully.

A landmark article by Hill et al., which was published in 1997, shed new light on shoulder function after nonoperative treatment of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures. The traditionally held belief that these fractures could generally be treated nonoperatively was brought into question, and the controversy over the optimal treatment has continued over recent years. When the decision to treat...

Background and purpose - The best treatment for displaced clavicle fractures has been debated for decades. Operative treatment has become more common. However, several randomized trials comparing non-operative and operative treatment have not shown any compelling evidence in favor of surgery. We identified the preferred treatment of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures at public hospitals in 3...
متن کاملMidshaft Clavicle Fractures: A Critical Review.
The clavicle is the most commonly broken bone in the human body, accounting for up to 5% to 10% of all fractures seen in hospital emergency admissions. Fractures of the middle third, or midshaft, are the most common, accounting for up to 80% of all clavicle fractures. Traditional treatment of midshaft clavicle fractures is usually nonoperative management, using a sling or figure-of-eight bandag...
